More Than Ribbons

I’ve decided to participate in my local Relay for Life, put together by the American Cancer Society. The event takes place at the end of April, but I will be planning some fundraising activities between now and then.

My team name for this event is “More Than Ribbons.” The ribbons are pretty and they are a great way to show support and spread awareness (trust me, I have my share of pink around here), but they are such a small piece of the puzzle. We are more than cancer. We are people. We are sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, friends, workers. We are fighters. We are survivors. We are mourners. We are More Than Ribbons.

There are a number of ways to participate. You can join my team and walk, you can make a donation, or you can purchase a Luminaria. Each of those things can be done directly through the American Cancer Society website, by clicking here. I am working on some other fundraising activities, which I will share as they become available.

And lemme just take a minute to brag…I made that logo up there. I’m pretty proud of it. It took hours to create! I hope you like it, too. Please don’t steal it. 😉
